The icon font is not working

I run the demo using LV_SYMBOL* in label, but i can’t see it…Can you tell me why? Please…

I use V7, maybe the “lv_theme_material” influences it?

Hi @Lucas.Liao,

Can you share some of your code please, so we can see how you are doing things?

Also are you using the built-in fonts or your own created with the font converter? If you have created your own fonts, you need to be sure to add the symbols when you create the fonts.

Kind Regards,

Pete

Hi @pete-pjb ,
I only use the built-in fonts, thanking you for your answer anyway.

lv_obj_t * btn;
btn =  lv_btn_create(parent,NULL);
lv_obj_set_size(btn,320,40);
lv_obj_set_pos(btn, 0, 0);

lv_obj_t * title_label =  lv_label_create(btn,NULL);
lv_label_set_text(title_label,LV_SYMBOL_LEFT"  Test");
//lv_label_set_align(title_label,LV_LABEL_ALIGN_RIGHT);
//lv_btn_set_layout(btn,LV_LAYOUT_ROW_MID);

lv_obj_t * list = lv_list_create(parent, NULL);
lv_list_set_scroll_propagation(list, true);
lv_obj_set_size(list, 320, 200);
lv_obj_set_pos(list,0,40);

const char * txts[] = {LV_SYMBOL_SAVE, "Save", LV_SYMBOL_CUT, "Cut", LV_SYMBOL_COPY, "Copy",
        LV_SYMBOL_OK, "This is a quite long text to scroll on the list", LV_SYMBOL_EDIT, "Edit", LV_SYMBOL_WIFI, "Wifi",
        LV_SYMBOL_BLUETOOTH, "Bluetooth",  LV_SYMBOL_GPS, "GPS", LV_SYMBOL_USB, "USB",
        LV_SYMBOL_SD_CARD, "SD card", LV_SYMBOL_CLOSE, "Close", NULL};

uint32_t i;
for(i = 0; txts[i] != NULL; i += 2) {
    btn = lv_list_add_btn(list, txts[i], txts[i + 1]);
    lv_btn_set_checkable(btn, true);

    /*Make a button disabled*/
    if(i == 4) {
        lv_btn_set_state(btn, LV_BTN_STATE_DISABLED);
    }
}

Hi @Lucas.Liao,

I have run your code on the simulator with parent set to lv_scr_act(); and it appears to show the symbols and text items okay in the list. How ever if I scroll the list it crashes the simulator while:

lv_list_set_scroll_propagation(list, true);

If this line is removed all is well, I am unsure as to why this is the case, there may be an issue lurking here which is corrupting some memory. I will need to ask @embeddedt or @kisvegabor to comment here please.

In the mean time it may be worth you trying your code with the lv_list_set_scroll_propagation() commented out for the time being to see if it works correctly for you then?

Kind Regards,

Pete.

Scroll propagation only works when the immediate parent is derived from a page. It definitely shouldn’t crash, but even after this is fixed, it wouldn’t do anything if you make the parent an lv_obj (or any other non-page object).

I’m guessing the crash happens because there is no check that the parent is actually a page.

@embeddedt, thank you for confirming this, I thought it may be the reason, but was not totally sure ( Me assigning lv_scr_act() as the parent which is not derived from a page.)

So @Lucas.Liao can you confirm what type of object you have set as the parent in your code please?

Thanks,

Pete

@embeddedt @pete-pjb, thank you for your answers. Yes, I use lv_scr_act() as the parent object, Maybe it affects scrolling propagation. But should it not affect the display of the icon font?When I used “LV_ex_list”, there was also no icon font.Thanks again.

void lv_ex_list_1(void)
{
/Create a list/
lv_obj_t * list1 = lv_list_create(lv_scr_act(), NULL);
lv_obj_set_size(list1, 160, 200);
lv_obj_align(list1, NULL, LV_ALIGN_CENTER, 0, 0);

lv_obj_t * list_btn;
list_btn = lv_list_add_btn(list1, LV_SYMBOL_FILE, "New");
lv_obj_set_event_cb(list_btn, event_handler);

list_btn = lv_list_add_btn(list1, LV_SYMBOL_DIRECTORY, "Open");
lv_obj_set_event_cb(list_btn, event_handler);

list_btn = lv_list_add_btn(list1, LV_SYMBOL_CLOSE, "Delete");
lv_obj_set_event_cb(list_btn, event_handler);

list_btn = lv_list_add_btn(list1, LV_SYMBOL_EDIT, "Edit");
lv_obj_set_event_cb(list_btn, event_handler);

list_btn = lv_list_add_btn(list1, LV_SYMBOL_SAVE, "Save");
lv_obj_set_event_cb(list_btn, event_handler);

list_btn = lv_list_add_btn(list1, LV_SYMBOL_BELL, "Notify");
lv_obj_set_event_cb(list_btn, event_handler);

list_btn = lv_list_add_btn(list1, LV_SYMBOL_BATTERY_FULL, "Battery");
lv_obj_set_event_cb(list_btn, event_handler);

}

Hi @Lucas.Liao,

So you are saying the example code unmodified is not showing the symbols on your system? Are you using the simulator or your own hardware?

Cheers,

Pete

Hi @pete-pjb,
Morning~Yes, I using my own hardware.
I forgot to mention it, and I’m using my own font library. I use V6 can display icon fonts, but not self-built fonts. Meantime, i can’t display icon fonts with V7, but my own fonts.
Maybe it’s a configuration issue?

Hi @Lucas.Liao,

It could be a configuration issue, please can you post your lv_conf.h file?

Hi @pete-pjb,
Thank you for your patient help. This is the configuration of V7,

Hi @Lucas.Liao,

Please can you edit your post and add in line code formatting.

backticks

This will enable us to read it properly.

Many thanks,

Pete

Hi @pete-pjb,
Sorry, thanks. I have revised it.

Hi @Lucas.Liao,

Can you post your call to lv_theme_material_init(); please from your initialisation code.

I am assuming you are using your own font based on the configuration file so can you, as a test, revert the configuration file as follows to the default font and test it please:

#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_SMALL         &lv_font_montserrat_16
#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_NORMAL        &lv_font_montserrat_16
#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_SUBTITLE      &lv_font_montserrat_16
#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_TITLE         &lv_font_montserrat_16

//#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_SMALL         &titillumweb_bold_18
//#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_NORMAL        &titillumweb_bold_18
//#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_SUBTITLE      &titillumweb_bold_18
//#define LV_THEME_DEFAULT_FONT_TITLE         &titillumweb_bold_18

Rebuild the library and your application and let me know if this works?

Cheers,

Pete

Also, make sure you’re using the latest patch release (release/v7). 7.0.0 had a few minor issues with font rendering that have since been fixed.

Hi @embeddedt,
I think it’s related to this, but I updated it just the same.

Best regard,
Lucas

Hi @pete-pjb,
I’ve tried it this way. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my initialization, do I?
But thank you for referring to it. Also, I’m not using a touch screen, just a display screen.

lv_init();
tft_init();

void monitor_cb(lv_disp_drv_t * d, uint32_t t, uint32_t p)
{
	t_saved = t;
}

void tft_init(void)
{
	static lv_disp_buf_t buf;

	lv_disp_buf_init(&buf, LcdFlushBuf, NULL, 320);

	lv_disp_drv_init(&disp_drv);

	disp_drv.buffer = &buf;
	disp_drv.flush_cb = tft_flush;
	disp_drv.monitor_cb = monitor_cb;
	lv_disp_drv_register(&disp_drv);
}

Hi @Lucas.Liao,

It was your call to lv_theme_material_init(); I wanted to see please.

Is it possible your font titillumweb_bold_18 does not contain the symbols? Are you sure you added them when you made it with the online font converter. The notes about adding symbols from the Converter Page are as follows:

Blockquote List of built-in symbols Use this FontAwesme symbol font and copy this list to Range :
61441,61448,61451,61452,61452,61453,61457,61459,61461,61465,

Did you change the lv_conf.h file the way I showed in my previous post and rebuild the library and your application to test if it works okay with the built in Montserrat font?

Kind Regards,

Pete
