I need help, I am unable to display JPG images from the SD card correctly.

Description

I am currently using LVGL 9 to complete my project and it is able to display .c images and PNG images from the SD card correctly. Previously, I was able to display JPEG images using LVGL 8.3 with LV_USE_SJPG, although there were some minor issues with rendering at the top. Unfortunately, LVGL 9 does not have lv_sjpg.

Now, I am facing a problem where LV_USE_TJPGD is not able to correctly display JPEG images from the SD card.

lvgl_conf.h set #define LV_USE_TJPGD 1

lv_fs functions are working fine. I am able to open files and read their contents, and also able to read the list of files in a directory.

What MCU/Processor/Board and compiler are you using?

I am using ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, Arduino framework, and Platformio for development.

The screen has a resolution of 320*240 and uses an SPI interface.

The software library is as follows:

bodmer/TFT_eSPI@^2.5.33

lvgl/lvgl@^9.0.0

What LVGL version are you using?

LVGL9

What do you want to achieve?

Please help me display JPEG images from the SD card. The images definitely exist because I have checked the data during TJPGD decoding.

What have you tried so far?

  1. Increase cache.

  2. Check the decoding of TJPGD.

  3. lv_obj_invalidate(lv_screen_active());

  4. lv_refr_now(NULL);

  5. lv_obj_invalidate(_wallpaper);

I’ve been trying for two days, but there hasn’t been any progress.

Code to reproduce

Displaying an image from an array is working fine.

LV_IMAGE_DECLARE(img_wink_png);

lv_obj_t *img;

img = lv_image_create(guider_ui.setup);

lv_image_set_src(img, &img_wink_png);

lv_obj_align(img, LV_ALIGN_LEFT_MID, 20, 0);

log: LVGL: [Info] (0.000, +0) lv_image_create: begin lv_image.c:123

Displaying PNG images from the SD card is working fine.

v_obj_t *_logo;

_logo = lv_image_create(guider_ui.setup);

lv_obj_set_size(_logo, 32, 32);

lv_obj_set_pos(_logo, 130, 70);

lv_image_set_src(_logo, "S:/images/clock-min.png");

Failed to display JPG images from the SD card.

v_obj_t *_wallpaper;

_wallpaper = lv_image_create(guider_ui.setup);

lv_image_set_src(_wallpaper, "S:/images/wallpaper/img_lvgl_logo.jpg");

lv_obj_center(_wallpaper);

lv_obj_move_foreground(_wallpaper);

log: LVGL: [Info] (0.000, +0) lv_image_create: begin lv_image.c:123

Screenshot and/or video

The black area is caused by the JPG image. I can erase it using a mouse, but it cannot be erased within the area where the JPG image is located. Sometimes, the following content is printed in the log:

LVGL: [Info] (11.552, +1020) lv_draw_buf_reshape: Draw buf too small for new shape lv_draw_buf.c:233

Have you encountered a similar situation?

Please help me, thank you very much.

LVGL: [Info] (11.552, +1020) lv_draw_buf_reshape: Draw buf too small for new shape lv_draw_buf.c:233

This info log is normally printed during drawing label. It’s expected to happen. I shall remove the log some day and let caller decides if it’s an error.

Yes, this log information is not currently important.

I checked the code again, and after loading the JPG, both w and h are normal, and px_map contains data. However, the image still does not display on the screen.

void display_flush(lv_display_t *disp, const lv_area_t *area, uint8_t *px_map)
{
    uint32_t w = (area->x2 - area->x1 + 1);
    uint32_t h = (area->y2 - area->y1 + 1);

    tft.startWrite();
    tft.setAddrWindow(area->x1, area->y1, w, h);
    tft.pushColors((uint16_t *)px_map, w * h, true);
    tft.endWrite();
    lv_display_flush_ready(disp);
}

I have simplified the code to reproduce the issue.
