How to mix characters of different sizes in a converted font?

My font has a degree sign which is too large. I need to use degree size from the same font, but converted with a smaller size.
Is it possible to extract this single character from the smaller converted font and insert it into the larger converted font?
Is there a font conversion tool, which allows specifying different sizes for different characters?

There is no easy way that I know of. I would suggest editing your font in something like FontForge and adjusting the degree symbol’s size to fit your needs. That should work and should be fairly straightforward.

I have a problem that I think is similar, when I added a new font to my project I lost the default font symbols and a square appeared in their place.
More specifically, the dropdown symbol (LV_SYMBOL_DOWN). I imagined that the symbol would not be linked to the text, but by changing the text font, I also lost the dropdown symbol. I found that strange.
