How to create a vertical "meter", vlgl9

I’ve got arc’s going well. I created 4 vertical gradients with associated tick marks,
but I’ll be danged if I can create a meter to go with them.
The old “meter” function is gone. I can’t straighten out the “arc” and use it. And I’ve read that the “scale” replaces the meter and adds functionality, but I’m jut not getting it.
I’ve got the new indicator graphic showing up on the screen (top left only), but I can’t “attach” it to anything or move it (I did get it to rotate).
I’ve read the page on “scale” several times, and I’m just not seeing where another object can be used as a indicator, or any indicator function for that matter.
I’ve searched here, but don’t come up with much other than older version or arcs, and I’m not finding any examples out there.

Can somebody please post a basic how to?
Thanks

set the width so it is a lower number than the height? I believe that is how it works.

I think it was working all along. I was thinking it should act more like “arc”, where you set the pointer graphic, then set the value and ta-da! There it is.
I believe with scale it doesn’t show up until you specifically place it there. You can draw the needle and update the value all day long, but until you move, or place it, it’s not doing anything (visible anyway).
