LV_LABEL_LONG_TXT_HINT doesn't seem to have an impact on textarea rendering speeds

Description

What MCU/Processor/Board and compiler are you using?

NXP 1064 RT EVK

What LVGL version are you using?

7.0

What do you want to achieve?

Display a ~30kb text file in a text area.

What have you tried so far?

Setting LV_LABEL_LONG_TXT_HINT to 1.

Result

There is no change in rendering speed, even when attempting to render just 5kb of the file, it is still as laggy during scrolling with/without the define set.

If you are really using 7.0 I would suggest updating to 7.9.1. There shouldn’t be any incompatibilities, and there are a lot of bugfixes. :wink:

@kisvegabor

I’ve tested it with 10k text on PC and I do see a big difference. See:

Try LV_USE_BIDI 0 because it also slows down scrollig.

If you don’t need to edit the text I suggest using an lv_label on lv_page because it has a much lower owerhead.
